Born and raised in New Jersey, Izai Gonzalez is a NYC-based artist, director, and writer who works in various mediums, exploring his identity, trauma, and the relationship between the individual and society. Growing up in a struggling environment with a single mother, Isaiah channels his childhood and emotional healing into each piece.

Having constructed and performed CARONTE after officially being diagnosed with a range of mood disorders, he faced his past and lit the way of a hopeful future; under the darkness of the eclipse he bled for the internal healing he sought.

Delving deeper into performance and installation art forms, he has begun to explore and discover new methods of expression. Izai believes little in “good” or “bad”, and more than anything wants to understand people and display the humanity of individuals by emphasizing their subconscious search for connection. With a passion for experimentation and pushing boundaries, Izai aims to create work that challenges the contemporary and embraces human emotion in its most vulnerable form.
